Getting true desktop-replacement performance out of a compact chassis has historically meant spending workstation money or tolerating screaming fan noise. The Minisforum MS-S1 Max tackles this problem head-on by packing AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor and RDNA 3.5 graphics into a sub-compact chassis that can cleanly mount behind a monitor or tuck into a small desk setup.
For shoppers trying to maximize performance per dollar, this machine redefines what integrated graphics can pull off. Instead of forcing you to invest in a discrete GPU, the high-end RDNA 3.5 architecture delivers the graphical horsepower needed for demanding modern games, 3D rendering, and heavy AI workloads while pulling significantly less power from the wall than a traditional ATX rig.
- Massive APU performance: The combination of the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 and RDNA 3.5 graphics pushes benchmark results in Cinebench, Geekbench, and 3DMark Time Spy to levels previously reserved for dedicated discrete systems.
- Genuine AAA gaming capability: Delivers playable frame rates in demanding modern titles like God of War Ragnarok, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Borderlands 4, and Marvel Rivals without an external GPU dock.
- Workstation-grade expandability: Easy internal access provides room for high-speed storage upgrades, while versatile I/O and tunable BIOS power modes let you prioritize peak clocks or quiet efficiency.
- Efficient thermals: Despite the compact footprint, the cooling system effectively manages temperatures and acoustics without aggressive thermal throttling under sustained load.
Bottom line: If you need heavy-duty productivity muscle and legitimate modern gaming performance without the bulk or price tag of a full-sized gaming PC, the Minisforum MS-S1 Max is one of the most capable compact workstations available.
